Do You Want Social Media Comments Included in Your Searches? [POLL]

[img src="http://sale-online.click/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/G+Image-360-275x171.jpg" caption="" credit="" alt=""]Earlier this week, Google introduced a major change to its search called "Search plus Your World" that integrates Google+ comments into standard searches.

The announcement raised hackles among competitors, namely Twitter, which charged that the integration of G+ data distorts natural search results and is "bad for people." Google, meanwhile, fired back that it was Twitter that chose not to continue integrating its data in Google searches.

While other Internet pundits have charged that Google's move violates the spirit of competition and possibly the law, Farhad Manjoo at Slate has posited a more interesting argument. Forget about antitrust: Why include any social media data -- whether from Google+, Twitter or Facebook -- in searches?

"More often than not, the inclusion of social results on Google and Bing seems like a cheap gimmick," Manjoo writes. "They don’t improve rankings in any meaningful way, and to the extent that they’re replacing other valuable links, they’re cluttering my search page."

The argument runs counter to conventional wisdom by the major search firms (including Microsoft's Bing, which includes Facebook data) that people want more social media comments appearing in their searches. Perhaps that's not the case, though.

So our question for you today is: Would you prefer that Google, etc. go back to their old "natural" search methods or do you find that inclusion of this data makes it easier to find what you're looking for? Take the poll and sound off in the comments.
