Mitt Romney is still in the delegate lead, with 572 according to The Wall Street Journal. Rick Santorum is second with 272, followed by Newt Gingrich (135) and Ron Paul (51). They're all racing for the "magic number" of 1,144, which would lock up the nomination before the Republican National Convention in late August.

Candidates are turning to the web to win enough primaries to hit that magic number. Meanwhile, citizens are taking part in an online national conversation about the race to the White House and journalists are tapping into digital tools to better tell the story.
