Not all social networks will be equally hit, claims eMarketer. This year, ad spending on Facebook is expected to grow to $230 million in the US, a 9.5% change from the previous year. MySpace, however, whose growth is generally stalling lately, will experience the biggest drop, and is only expected to generate $495 million this year, which is a 15% decrease from last year.

When put into perspective, the numbers don't look that grim for social networks in general, only for MySpace; yes, there won't be a phenomenal growth in 2009., but given the economic situation, even a small growth is a success.
