NextCat Meets VideoEgg: NextCat, "MySpace for the entertainment industry", just added video to their offering. Who did they choose? VideoEgg, of course, which already powers the video on Bebo, Dogster, hi5 and Tagged, among others.

Nayio Launches Humming Search: Nayio, a music community that came on the scene in late October, is launching a "Humming Search" service today. In theory, you should be able to hum a tune and let Humming Search recognize it for you. Stupidly, they've used ActiveX, which many people don't install due to security concerns. In fact, the community itself suffers a similar issue: they want you to create, share and rate your user-generated music videos, but they've used Windows Media Player, rather than Flash. Bad choice.

Scroon: A French video sharing site I've been testing recently - a public beta is expected in January. It's pretty good, and they're offering it to European media and telco players to embed Scroon in their offerings. DailyMotion is currently the leader in the French market.
