Someone thought it was a good idea to drive around with a car full of bees

When you think "road trip," you probably also think "swarms of bees." The two things practically go hand-in-hand.

That's what one driver in Montana seemed to think, anyhow.

The Montana Highway Patrol Facebook page reports that a driver in Missoula, Montana was apprehended on May 22 when a highway patrol officer "received a traffic complaint of a vehicle driving all over the road." The person who called in the vehicle claimed that there were bees flying around inside the cab of the car and covering the windows.

Once they were pulled over, the driver apparently insisted that the five hives of bees he was toting around were Russian honey bees and therefore harmless.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, a state apiarist was called on to comment on the situation. The department wrote on Facebook that "troopers learned, although a very unsafe way to transport bees, that the driver needed no permits to transport the bees through the state."

The driver still received a citation for careless driving.
