Sony's Egg-Shaped Bluetooth Speaker Is Insanely Cute

LAS VEGAS -- Sony may have just debuted the cutest Bluetooth speaker in the world. About the size of an apple, the SRS-BTV5 is a tiny speaker that produces big sound. And it comes in pink.

Manly men, be informed it also comes in white and black, but what you'll like most is the audio. We got a little ears-on time with the SRS-BTV5, and we liked what we heard, with the little ball speaker filling a conference room with impressive sound for its size.

Sony calls the sound tech "360-degree Circle Sound," which is said to give a more diffusive sound field than, say, your typical Jambox. The speaker's rechargeable battery is rated for five hours of wireless playback.

Even better: The ball speaker includes NFC technology for easy pairing with a similarly equipped phone. Of course, iPhone users will still need to pair the old-fashioned way, but you Galaxy S III owners just need to touch to pair, as are the four or five of you that actually use Sony Xperia phones.

We like Sony's little ball speaker -- especially that it has a distinctive design that's reminiscent of other Sony products like the odd Rolly from a few years back. It doesn't hurt that the sound's pretty good, too.

The SRS-BTV5 costs $69, and it'll be available in March.
