Sony has announced an MMO game for Pirate lovers called Pirates of the Burning Sea. This online game is scheduled to launch on Jan. 22 2008, so you have some time yet to anxiously await its arrival. Sony missed the mark on "Talk Like a Pirate" day, eh? You can pre-order the game on October 23rd, and these players will get an invite to the "Pre-Boarding Party" which offers early access to the game 15 days early. During this time, you can level up to 20, and continue characters after the official launch, which includes a monthly subscription in addition to the purchase of the game.

The game takes place in the New World circa 1720, a dramatic time of
conflict and riches that features action for every play style, from
epic ship combat, to piracy, to building economic empires or
sword-swinging adventure. With more than one thousand missions per
nation, dozens of ports to explore, and the entire Caribbean as their
domain, players will find an online experience like no other.
Some of the game's features include the opportunity to play in four nations (Pirate, English, French or Spanish), where every player is the captain of their own ship. You can duel other players and take over 80 ports in the Caribbean, explore worlds and spread your name by succeeding in various missions. Up to 25 players on one side can participate in sea battles as well. Players control the game's economy by manufacturing and selling ships and equipment, and you can always steal. Of course.
