Sorry, Matrix fans: Sony's upcoming virtual reality headset, Project Morpheus, is now called PlayStation VR.

The company announced the name change at the Tokyo Game Show on Tuesday, the reasoning being quite obvious: the new name will be more familiar to PlayStation users.

“The name ‘PlayStation VR’ not only directly expresses an entirely new experience from PlayStation that allows players to feel as if they are physically inside the virtual world of a game, but it also reflects our hopes that we want our users to feel a sense of familiarity as they enjoy this amazing experience,” said Sony business product president Masayasu Ito.

According to Ito, the company will continue to refine the product's hardware while bringing in more content deals, with more news promised in the coming months.

Mashable's Raymond Wong tried out a prototype of the headset, calling it the most comfortable among similar devices, including the (both upcoming) Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

PlayStation VR is scheduled to hit the shelves in the first half of 2016. The pricing has not been announced.
