'South Park' Misses First Deadline In 17 Seasons After Power Outage

Fans of the animated hit South Park aren't going to think this is so sweet -- the show missed a development deadline for the first time in the show's 17-season history after a power outage paralyzed production.

Representatives from Comedy Central told Mashable computers were down for hours at South Park Studios on Tuesday, stalling everything and forcing the network to cancel airing Wednesday's episode, “Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers.

“It sucks to miss an air date but after all these years of tempting fate by delivering the show last minute, I guess it was bound to happen,” co-creator Trey Parker said in a statement.

The cause for the blackout is unknown, so of course, conspiracies abound. But photos of co-creator Matt Stone texting in the dark seem to support the claim.
