LONDON -- 80s babies everywhere united Friday in a show of drop-to-your-knees-and-pray fervour after reports surfaced that the Spice Girls might reunite for the comeback tour that would end all comeback tours.

Although still unconfirmed, they teased us unmercifully and set the Internet alight with some tweets that really raised our hopes.

Here are 13 reasons we all need to get behind a Spice Girls comeback tour.

1. They were the ultimate feminists (girl power!)

The Spice Girls burst onto the 90s dance scene as unapologetic feminists. They were women who accepted each other for who they were, whether they were into tight skirts and high fashion poses or comfy tracksuit bottoms and back flips. And they were there for each other, not for men. As Mel B famously once said “This is about girl power, not about picking up guys.”

2. They gave birth to Posh Spice.

If it weren’t for the Spice Girls, fashion super-couple David and Victoria wouldn’t exist, end of.

3. They owned 90s fashion...

The platforms. The tracksuits. The dress.

4. …and knew the importance of coordinating suits.

5. “Playing" Spice Girls made every playtime worthwhile.

Cue fights about who got to be Baby.

6. They were the ultimate Brits.

Need we say more?

So, so British

7. And the Americans loved them.

But we’re not sure they always understood the northern accent.

8. Their music videos were masterpieces of terrible acting.

And you didn’t even care because they were having so much fun.

9.They taught us to put friendship first.

“If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends,” they sang in their breakout single "Wannabe", firmly establishing the women before men rhetoric that would go on to define their career.

10. And to practice safe sex (though your parents had no idea).

We knew what “put it on” meant and delighted in telling all of our friends about it.

"It's basically a love song, but it's got a message—make sure you put a condom on if you're going to have sex. We all think that's very important," Melanie Brown said talking about the song's theme.

11. They made a love song for their mothers. Their MOTHERS.

And when they started earning, Baby Spice bought her mother a house, which was the first time they had a garden.

12. They were the original squad.

No contest, sorry Swifties.

13. They shunned media training.

They spoke like us, they acted like us and they were unapologetic about it, which was remarkably refreshing and made for the most interesting interviews.
