SpiralFrog has signed a licensing agreement with Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC, further expanding its music library offering. SpiralFrog is an ad-supported service that lets you download free music from its licensing partners, which also includes Universal Music Group.
With Sony/ATV looking for new revenue streams for its song writers, SpiralFrog is one way in which this could easily happen. We've seen the success of free music offerings with Radiohead making an estimated $10 million in one week from donations from its free album. So the attention leveraged from a legal alternative for free music could be worth the while of many brands for advertising purposes.
