SpongeBob Tickler, a $1.99 virtual underwater pocket-pal, was Nickelodeon's first attempt at an iPhone app and is reportedly already getting downloaded 3,000 times a day. If you're a SpongeBob fanatic and not in the least disturbed that all you can do is play with SpongeBob - shake him, poke him, stretch him, and make him dance - then why not take him with you and tickle him at your fancy?
SpongeBob's Atlantis Treasures, officially released today, is Nickelodeon's second attempt to capitalize on parents eager to entertain their children via iPhone. At $3.99, the app follows SpongeBob and his friends as they search for treasure in five challenge-based rooms in an Atlantean fortress.
The SpongeBob Tickler and Atlantis Treasures apps are just the first of several offerings being released throughout the year. Nickolodeon plans to launch a Dora the Explorer game, iCarly app, and even more SpongeBob SquarePants treats.
If Nickelodeon continues to have success with their apps, you can expect even more entertainment networks to hop on the iPhone games for kids bandwagon.
