The multiple-hour stretch between putting the turkey in the oven on Thanksgiving and digging into it is one of the longest multiple-hour stretches there is.

So Spotify created a better way to spend that downtime than answering deeply personal questions from prying relatives.

The service's Time for Turkey feature builds playlists customized by the expected cook time of your Thanksgiving bird. (It's for all Spotify users, not just premium subscribers.)

You can enter the weight of your turkey and specify whether or not it will be stuffed (which, if you are a true American, it will be). Finally, you'll pick a theme for your playlist -- like Americana and "Club Kitchen" -- and Spotify will direct you to a playlist timed to your turkey's cook time.

The playlist times are based on the USDA's roasting timetable, though Spotify's turkey timer is quick to remind cooks that they should continue to baste and check the turkey regularly. Martha Stewart also has a good explainer for how to perfectly roast and check a turkey. Don't be that guy who ruins Thanksgiving dinner because you put too much faith in a music streaming app.

This year, when the questions regarding your employment, relationship status or politics begin, just turn up the music and and pretend you can't hear.
