Going to a store to pick up your new phone can be such a hassle.

That's the basis of Sprint's new service, called Sprint Direct 2 You, through which the company will send a "Sprint-trained expert" your way, who will then help set up your new phone. The service is free, but currently available only for Sprint customers who are upgrading from an existing service.

That process includes transferring all of the customer's contacts, pictures, videos and apps from the old device to a new one. The Sprint rep will also show you how the phone works -- as well as offer tips on how to use it.

“It’s as if we are adding 5,000 additional stores. However, these mobile stores will be continuously on the move based on customer demand," said Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure.

You don't even have to be at home to receive your phone; Sprint insists that it will deliver your phone to "wherever" you specify.

While Sprint claims Direct 2 You is a national program, it will launch first in Kansas City on Monday, followed by Chicago and Miami on April 20. The program will gradually expand to other states in 2015, and Sprint expects to deploy 5,000 Sprint Direct 2 You cars in major metropolitan areas by the end of the year.
