Square announced Tuesday that the Square Stand, a countertop device that holds an iPad and processes credit card swipes, is now available to the general public.
The product can be purchased on Square's website as well as at Apple and Best Buy Stores. Square Stand starts at $299 with the option to add other accessories like a cash drawer, receipt printer and barcode scanner.
Square introduced the Square Stand in mid-May and billed the device as a more modern and simple point-of-sale option for merchants. Square also launched a "Business in a Box" hardware package and an ecommerce website, effectively positioning itself to be part of a merchant's efforts to attract customers and process payments.
The startup was founded in 2009 and currently has more than 3 million users and a network of 250,000 merchants.
