LONDON – The official Star Wars Facebook page and Star Wars UK Twitter account have announced that Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens will hit cinemas in the UK on Dec. 17 – a day earlier than originally planned.
The worldwide release date was originally marked as Dec. 18 on the Star Wars official website, but it appears that, in the UK at least, this has now been pushed forward to Dec. 17.

The official Star Wars Facebook page also shared the following 100 day countdown video:
(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));100 Days To The Force AwakensThe Force Awakens will be released in the UK on December 17th. So is the film being released in the UK a day earlier than the U.S. and other countries? Or is the date being moved elsewhere, too? Judging by the fact that the Facebook announcement specifically mentions the UK, it would appear that it might be the former.
Mashable has reached out to Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and Star Wars UK for further details, and we will update if we receive a response.
