Runners and Star Wars fans united for a common cause this weekend, as Disneyland hosted its first Star Wars-themed half marathon on Sunday morning.

The event was part of Disney's Rebel Challenge weekend, which also held 5K and 10K races on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Runners could opt to join each race individually, or participate in the Rebel Challenge -- the half marathon and 10K combined -- for a total of 19.3 miles.

Sunday's 13.1-mile half-marathon course took participants through Disney California Adventure park, past Disneyland and then on to roads in Anaheim, California. There were plenty of Star Wars characters along the route to cheer runners on, and of course, many participants chose to dress up themselves.

We've gathered our favorite Twitter and Instagram photos documenting Sunday's action. You can also follow the excitement by monitoring the #StarWarsHalf and #RebelChallenge hashtags.
