Features: The Usual, and a Few Extras

Statuzer, a multi-platform Air app we learned about via The Inquisitr and Go2Web20, has many of the standard features of these clients: columns of replies, direct messages, searches and tweets from those you follow; quick retweeting, DMing, favoriting and @replies.

But it also includes some fun and novel new tricks: the ability to totally customize the color scheme (mine is blue, see below), for instance, and Twitpic integration that allows you to post straight from your webcam. Most notably, perhaps, Statuzer brings a lot of multimedia into the client, including the ability to play MP3s from song.ly and tra.kz. The full feature list is below.

1. Fully customisable color scheme

2. MP3 Playing from song.ly and tra.kz

3. Jamendo music search (free and legal)

4. Displays twitpic images in tweet

5. Youtube Thumbs

6. Twitter search moving Trends

7. Hashtags

8. Fast display filter

9. Contacts groups

10. Followable Twitter searches

11. Notifications

12. URLs preview

13. Image/webcam upload

14. Image/webcam upload to twitter profile image

15. Multi-account

16. Search filters

17. Short URLs (Twitter API)

18. Encode/decode MinUrl and TinyUrl

19. Post to identi.ca and HelloTipi

It brings some annoyances, too: unless you want your workday to be interupted by shrill chirps, be sure to change the default notification sounds from "birds" to "bubble". On my machine, it also appeared to be a bit of a memory hog (this was an early issue with rival TweetDeck, too, but it has since plugged its memory leak).
