Stephen Colbert has won television, according to Stephen Colbert.

After nearly nine years hosting The Colbert Report, he is moving on to greener pastures -- also know as network television.

Colbert dropped by The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to officially "announce" the end of The Colbert Report, saying "it's become clear to me that I've won television." Colbert's departure comes as no surprise, of course; CBS announced earlier this month that Colbert would succeed David Letterman as host of the Late Show in 2015.

In typical Colbert fashion, he went out with a bang. He made Jon Stewart giggle like a little kid by poking fun at himself, claiming that Letterman was going to be replaced by "some fat guy" and spinning a whimsical tale of riding in boxcars after The Colbert Report ends. He even took the liberty of crafting his own farewell video.

Ride that bald eagle to network glory, Stephen.
