Damaging storms swept through parts of Europe last night, causing major damage in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and parts of the UK.

At least nine people have been found dead from the storms, according to the BBC.

Meteorologists say that the cyclonic storms - referred to by many in Europe as Storm Niklas - were among the most powerful storms in recent years in central Europe. Storm Niklas brought heavy rain and gusts of wind that reached 192 kilometers an hour, according to Sydney Morning Herald.
