Editors' note: With most services around the region scheduled to resume on Wednesday, this list will not continue to be updated.

The huge blizzard slamming the Northeast has wreaked havoc on the region's transportation networks and schools.

More than 7,000 flights have been canceled on Monday and Tuesday, with some airports like Boston's Logan shutting down completely. Most airlines are waiving change fees.

Governors in several states declared states of emergency. Travel bans have been lifted in New York City and New Jersey, but are still in place in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. New York City's transit system is coming back online, while Boston's is still down. Amtrak suspended its service between Boston and New York for Tuesday. The U.S. Postal Service, UPS and FedEx were forced to shut down in some areas.

As cities deployed huge numbers of snow plows and salt spreaders, kids got some welcome news: School in the area is canceled on Tuesday, and Boston schools even canceled Wednesday classes in advance.

Connecticut

Gov. Dannel Malloy declared a state of emergency.

Travel ban lifted at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Metro North service resumed Tuesday on a Sunday schedule.

Widespread school closings. All UConn campuses closed Tuesday.

 

Maine

Gov. Paul LePage declared a state of emergency early Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews urged people to stay off roads Tuesday.

Greater Portland Metro Bus and Zoom canceled service for Tuesday; it will resume Wednesday.

Widespread closings of schools and other services.

 

Massachusetts

Gov. Charlie Baker declared a state of emergency.

Travel ban lifts Tuesday night at midnight.

Boston Logan International reopens 6 a.m. Wednesday.

MBTA service resumes Wednesday.

Boston schools closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Boston libraries closed Tuesday.

Boston will have 14 locations for parents who need to drop off children for child care.

Boston trash pickup, street cleaning canceled on Tuesday.

U.S. Postal Service has canceled Tuesday mail delivery statewide.

 

New Hampshire

Gov. Maggie Hassan declared a state of emergency.

Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in New Hampshire says all flights likely canceled Tuesday, the first time the airport is closed in 25 years, The Associated Press reports.

Widespread school closings, including in Manchester on Tuesday and Wednesday and Concord on Tuesday.

State government closed Tuesday and many other services closed.

 

New Jersey

Gov. Chris Christie declared a state of emergency.

Travel ban lifted as of 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. Christie is asking those who don't have to drive to stay off the roads.

Newark Airport still open, but many flights canceled.

NJ Transit service began to resume Tuesday morning.

PATH train service has resumed on a weekend schedule.

Many schools closed around the state on Tuesday.

 

New York

Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency for southern counties.

Travel ban in New York City and other counties in southern New York has been lifted as of 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Kennedy and LaGuardia Airports still open, but virtually all flights at LaGuardia canceled, and extensive cancellations at JFK.

MTA service started coming back online at 9 a.m. Tuesday, reaching Sunday-level service by noon.

All Broadway shows cancelled on Monday night, but most resuming Tuesday night.

New York City libraries closed Monday and Tuesday.

New York City trash collection suspended Monday and Tuesday.

U.S. Postal Service operations in New York City suspended Tuesday.

New York City schools closed Tuesday; many other schools in the region closed as well.

 

Pennsylvania

Gov. Tom Wolf signed a disaster emergency proclamation; Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter declared a snow emergency.

Hundreds of cancellations at Philadelphia International Airport on Monday and Tuesday.

SEPTA trains running on a Saturday schedule on Tuesday; various bus cancellations and detours.

Parking banned on designated routes in Philadelphia; the Philadelphia Parking Authority will offer a flat 24-hour rate of $5.

Philadelphia schools closed Tuesday.

No Philadelphia trash collection on Tuesday.

 

Rhode Island

Gov. Gina Raimondo declared a state of emergency.

Travel ban lifts at 8 p.m. Tuesday, but governor asks residents to stay off roads if they can.

Flights canceled at T.F. Green Airport on Monday night and Tuesday.

Providence public schools closed Tuesday. University of Rhode Island, Brown University canceled classes for Tuesday.
