A sneaky Chihuahua made it all the way to LaGuardia Airport in its owner's luggage -- only to have the trip spoiled by the Transportation Security Administration.

Airport security found the dog inside a checked bag at LaGuardia International Airport, and safely returned it to its owner, according to TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein.

Farbstein said the chihuahua's presence in the checked bag came as a surprise to the owner.

"The dog climbed in," Farbstein said. "[The owner] was shocked when we told her we had her dog."

Dog owners won't find that explanation surprising, though, if their furry friend has the same affinity for turning a suitcase into a bed.

Funny, I don't remember packing a dog in my suitcase...? #AubieDog pic.twitter.com/YciTXuTtQZ— Courtney Barber (@courtlyb) February 22, 2015

The Chihuahua may have been sneaky, but who can blame it for trying to escape this never-ending New York winter.
