Annelies Vredeveldt has an unusual travel companion: A stuffed dog named Boris.

She's taken him with her on many travels, but on the latest one she made a horrible mistake and left him behind.

On a recent business trip to Victoria, Canada, Dutch native Vredeveldt lost Boris while staying at The Fairmont Empress Hotel.

The dog was mixed into the hotel laundry, and did not turn up until after Vredeveldt had left.

Fortunately, the employees at the Fairmont wanted to make Boris feel at home and show him some of Canada's culture. Housekeeping Manager Gregory Pohlod decided to show the dog around on Canada Day -- and documented the whole thing.

This is apparently becoming a Canadian tradition: Airport staff took a stuffed tiger on a trip around an airport in June before returning it to its owner.

Pohlod took pictures of Boris around the hotel with employees and a Canadian flag, to show Vredeveldt that her dog was having a great time.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));Posted by Annelies Vredeveldt on Thursday, July 16, 2015

Boris was then sent back to his owner, along with a letter explaining how they had found him and the pictures.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));I lost my stuffed dog at the Empress hotel in Victoria BC. Two weeks later I come home to find him in the mail with this letter and a bunch of photos.Posted by Annelies Vredeveldt on Thursday, July 16, 2015

Veredeveldt was glad to have her dog back and posted the photos of Boris's saga on Facebook saying, "Oh, Canadians."

Boris just wanted to have a little more time exploring Canada on his own, and it looks like he had a pretty cool adventure.
