Coffee addicts, prepare to geek out or freak out.

West coast-based coffee brand Peet's Coffee & Tea is in talks to buy independent darling of the coffee world, Stumptown Coffee, reports Eater.

Stumptown, based in Portland, Oregon but with a few outlets on each coast, isn't just a normal coffee shop. It's the cool, artisanal coffee shop with an entire culture devoted to its roasts and brews.

If Stumptown were a celebrity, it would be Jason Schwartzman.

Recently, the company "made a splash by giving away limited edition bottles of its cold brew — dubbed Col' Brew — in honor of Stephen Colbert taking over as host of The Late Show on CBS," at its NYC location.

Peet's has been expanding nationwide in the last few years and has over 200 outlets to Stumptown's 10. There's no word yet whether Peet's shops will sell Stumptown coffee or whether it will open more actual Stumptown locations.

The real question on everyone's mind is if the coffee game will be forever elevated, or if Stumptown's coolness will go the way of avocado toast.
