Super Bowl XLVIII generated 24.9 million tweets during the live telecast, narrowly edging last year's record of 24.1 million tweets.

The biggest Super Bowl-related peak on Twitter, measured in tweets per minute (TPM), was Percy Harvin's 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter, with 381,605 TPM. Also notable were Jermaine Kearse's 23-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter, Malcolm Smith's 69-yard interception in the second quarter and the half-time show featuring Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
