Using Bob-ombs and an assortment of gates and switches, a Super Mario Maker player created a level that acts as a basic calculator. You can can only add together 0's and 1's, but it acts as a cool visual representation of how binary addition works in computing.

Super Mario Maker for the Wii U allows you to create 2D levels using items from the Mario universe, but not everyone's goal is to create a fun level to jump through. In fact, this level isn't much fun at all, but if you're into seeing how a basic calculator works, this will scratch your nerdy itch.

The calculator works by having Mario send Bob-ombs through a few different gates that either allow them through or stop them based on simple logic checks.

This isn't the first time gamers have used a video game to create a computer. Using a series of switches and reactions, Minecraft players have created relatively complex computers including a typing machine.

If you want to try the Mario Maker calculator out for yourself, the course ID is 2DE4-0000-01B3-642B by the user Trousers.
