In Hollywood, there are obvious family relationships -- like Emma and Julia Roberts, or Kate and Rooney Mara. But in light of discovering that Amy Schumer is a distant cousin of U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer, it's safe to say that some celebrity relations will make you reconsider everything you know.

1. Melissa McCarthy and Jenny McCarthy
This one was probably staring us right in the face, but it's a surprise nonetheless: Melissa McCarthy and Jenny McCarthy are actually cousins.
Though they aren't seen in public together too much these days, the two are on great terms. In 2013, Jenny slammed film critic Rex Reed for attacking Melissa's weight, saying, "he can go to hell."
Just a few days ago, Jenny also posted an adorable throwback photo from their childhood.

2. Brandy and Snoop Dogg
Brandy and Snoop are first cousins, and the two collaborated on Snoop's 2009 track, "Special," along with Pharrell.
Brandy is also singer Ray J's older sister.
3. Jason Schwartzman and Francis Ford Coppola
According to the vast Coppola family tree, Wes Anderson film staple Jason Schwartzman is director Francis Ford Coppola's nephew.
Schwartzman, then, also counts Nicolas Cage (né Coppola) and Sofia Coppola as his cousins -- he worked with the latter in Marie Antoinette.
4. Al Roker and Lenny Kravitz
We all know that cool pair Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet came together to bring cool girl Zoë Kravitz into the world, but did you know that Lenny is distantly related to Today Show anchor Al Roker?
Apparently, their grandfathers were cousins.
5. Jessica Capshaw and Steven Spielberg
Jessica Capshaw, a.k.a Grey's Anatomy's Arizona, is in fact Steven Spielberg's stepdaughter. Her mother, Kate Capshaw, married Spielberg in 1991 when Jessica was 15.
Jessica has spoken of her famous family, acknowledging that it made it easier to go into show business -- but says she is grateful for where she comes from.
Bonus: these three Mannings actually aren't related.
It's easy to assume that Orange is the New Black's Taryn Manning is related to Superbowl-winning brothers Eli Manning and Peyton Manning. But the actress debunked the rumor, telling E! News, "I think somewhere along the way [we might be related]. But no, it's not true. We should squash that rumor right here, right now," and added that she would be "much taller" had she been related to the NFL players.
Too bad -- we'd have loved to see a Manning brothers cameo on OITNB. Maybe it could still happen.
