SuTree Launches Site for Video How-Tos

Tel Aviv-based SuTree will announce the launch on Monday of its video aggregator for instructional content.

With the growing long tail of online video, several aggregating services have emerged, from Vidmeter to Viddy. SuTree is an aggregator that is specific to instructional videos that offer lessons and give advice. The purpose is to collect visual knowledge and distribute it from a central location.

SuTree has broken these videos down into several categories, from arts and crafts to languages, a topic that could prove most helpful to a global audience. The video's links are submitted by users, and come from all over the Internet, mainly sites like VideoJug and Metacafe.

SuTree has a great concept and high ideals. While there are sites like 5min that are created for instructional videos, there are many sites where these knowledge-sharing videos are buried under other user-generated content. While you can register for a SuTree account, their site could fully operate without this process. There are no user profiles, no way to search by username, and no way to create a playlist from your favorite videos. Bulking out the community aspects of SuTree would help immensely for the service they aim to provide.
