Tailrank, the blog buzz tracker, has some major updates for its Tailrank service as well as its subsidiary Spinn3r. There are new releases for both services.

Starting with Spinn3r: version 2.0 is now available, and it's completely free of charge for researchers. It's new mainstream news crawler indexes top sites, and exposes the full HTML of the articles within its API, including the article title and additional metadata. This is the basis of Spinn3r's new crawling technology for its main index, and will help backfill any partial feeds and also grab comments from blog posts.

Tailrank's updates include a larger index based on the new Spinn3r crawling platform, which offers more variety and opportunities for lesser-known bloggers. Improved document clustering processes more data and better organizes information so your search results are better. The accuracy of Tailrank has been improved as well, and better spam filters helps to keep you away from web junk. Technorati went through some heavy upgrades a few months back and was met with poor reviews. Hopefully Tailrank will be able to continue the improvements surrounding its service.
