Target, a meatspace competitor to WalMart, will become a net-space competitor on yet another front, according to PaidContent. They'll be making the move to digital music with a SonyBMG album launch by John Legend entitled "Live from Philadelphia." The album was sold exclusively in Target stores last week, and is also available in DRM free MP3 format at Target.com

Will this foray into digital music meet the same fate as WalMart's, though? We're not so sure. One of the things it was easy to criticize WalMart over was the usage of DRM in their downloads. If one wants to grab DRM-laden music, there are a wide variety of other more visible and user-friendly alternatives. Polls of Mashable readers tell us overwhelmingly that it is a deal-breaker, and while the general public may not be quite certain what the term DRM actually means, they do know that they'd prefer to be able to copy and use their media as they wish.
