When Nicki Minaj tweeted her disappointment about this year's VMA nominations -- pointing out that they're just another example of the music industry's structural racism -- Taylor Swift should not have responded. But she did, and so did seemingly everyone else.

Now Swift has tweeted about how she never should have tweeted in the first place, because she's been taking her album title Speak Now way too seriously.

I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I'm sorry, Nicki. @NICKIMINAJ— Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) July 23, 2015

Taylor is referring to her original response to Nicki's tweet, in which she accused Minaj of subtweeting her.

@NICKIMINAJ I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..— Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) July 21, 2015

Taylor's tweet apologizing for saying anything at all seems to have satisfied Nicki, or at least she's just prepared for this whole saga to be over.

That means so much Taylor, thank you. @taylorswift13 ❤️❤️❤️— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) July 23, 2015

I've always loved her. Everyone makes mistakes. She gained so much more respect from me. Let's move on. https://t.co/mx9pfIdnzT— NICKI MINAJ (@NICKIMINAJ) July 23, 2015

Finally, temporary peace in the pop world like it's 2011 all over again.

Just kidding -- we'll never be free.
