It looks as if our initial speculation that another network would step in to pick up the show could prove to be dead on. According to The Hollywood Reporter, TBS is in negotiations to order 13 new episodes.
Before Earl fans get too excited, we should note the negotiations are still pending. The Hollywood Reporter goes on to note that, "the conversations between 20th TV and TBS for new episodes are in the very early stages, and a deal is far from a lock as the sides have to figure out whether an expensive network single-camera series can be produced under a basic cable network's economic model."
Even though the TBS deal has still yet to be inked, we're hard pressed to believe that the social media uprising amongst Twitterers fell on deaf ears. After all, the @EarlTwitition Twitter account now has over 14,000 followers and includes a few tweets alerting followers to the fact that major networks have been made aware of the campaign.
Plus, one has to consider the recent win for Chuck fans who fought hard via social media to create awareness around the #savechuck campaign. Not only did network execs at NBC learn of the campaign, but they even acknowledged how impressed they were in a statement to TV Guide.
