LONDON -- Is there anyone who doesn't enjoy a well-placed emoji now and then?

Well certainly not Roger Federer, who took his emoji game to wild new heights on Saturday when he tweeted an epic round-up of his Wimbledon day off plans using nothing but the colourful little symbols.

Federer has since been quizzed about the tweet in an interview, during which he broke down the epic string of emoji to describe his day off from the tennis.

"I thought, they can try to figure that out if they want to or just laugh about it," he said. "Or just think: 'He's crazy'." Federer said the tweet took him about 10 minutes to put together.

The thing is, this isn't a new trend. Andy Murray, who's also a bit of a dab hand when it comes to emoji, used a similar style of tweet to lay out his entire wedding day itinerary back in April.

And it looks like the trend is set to continue. The people behind the official Wimbledon Twitter account were quick to reply to Federer's recent day off tweet with their own account of 'Middle Sunday', featuring a fair bit of court maintenance and no shortage of strawberries and bananas.

Federer approved.
