The life of an on-the-scene reporter isn't all glitz and glamour, you know.

Just ask RTÉ journalist Teresa Mannion, whose stoic live broadcast from the wet and windy heart of Storm Desmond on Saturday made her an instant legend in Ireland over the weekend.

You really can't fault Mannion's performance in the clip above.

Even though her hair is plastered to her face, her hat has turned into a soaked green sponge and she's had to resort to shouting to be heard over the wind, Mannion soldiers on. She also really puts her heart and soul into the broadcast (although it's hard to tell whether that's real passion or just her genuine fear of being blown away at any second).

The report has made her something of a legend on social media.

Is Teresa Mannion okay after that..? #sixone #StormDesmond— Clodagh Murray (@ClodaghM_) December 5, 2015

Her celebrity status escalated fast.

Someone give poor Teresa Mannion a hot whiskey, you'd need one after that #StormDesmond #sixone— Laura Byrne (@LauraByrneStory) December 5, 2015

That report from Teresa Mannion on the Six One News should win multiple awards #StormDesmond— Mary Mc Intyre (@Mc1988) December 5, 2015

Then someone mentioned the word "pop video"...

Is Teresa Mannion reporting the weather or making a mean and moody pop video? pic.twitter.com/D0vzAJt5fU— S (@TheShiftyShadow) December 5, 2015

...and inevitably, this happened.

This is so funny, how do people make these so quickly, brilliant :-) The #teresamannion remix https://t.co/qRQ7aAj54R— OldIreland (@OldeEire) December 6, 2015

If YouTube remixes aren't a sure-fire sign of Internet fame, we don't know what is.

There's also a petition to name Ireland's next storm "Teresa" in honour of the reporter's performance.

I just signed this petition. Next Irish storm to be named #StormTeresa https://t.co/5VhkWwJZpH via @ipetitions #teresamannion— Teresa Mannion (@StormTeresa_) December 6, 2015

Teresa Mannion, we salute you.
