The first invitations for the Tesla Model 3 debut have been delivered.

Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk confirmed in February that the upstart EV automaker would officially unveil its mass-market Model 3 on March 31st. Four weeks ahead of the event, the first invites have been sent out to a select few.

Posted to Electrek, the invite was delivered to a raffle winner of the Tesla Model S referral program.

The invite doesn't specify the exact location of the event. Since it lists the nearest airport as LAX, however, chances are good that the debut will take place the Tesla design studio in Hawthorne, California, next to SpaceX.

Although the Model X unveiling was held at a Tesla facility in Fremont, California, the so-called "D" event where Musk launched the Model S dual-motor variants was hosted in Hawthorne. So it's not unreasonable to assume the Model 3 will be unveiled there, too.

Moreover, hosting the event in Hawthorne indicates that Tesla is expecting a huge turnout for the event. Given its significance, the Model 3 could draw a huge crowd.

Despite the fact that the Model 3 will be first shown and orders opened to the public on Mar. 31, production and deliveries won't begin -- by Musk's own admission -- until late 2017. So feel free to get excited, but not too excited; you've got an 18-plus-month wait ahead of you before you see a Model 3 on the road or your driveway.
