Cpl. Eric Casebolt, the McKinney, Texas police officer caught on video pointing a gun at a group of teens at a pool party and pinning one teen to the ground has resigned, McKinney Police Chief Greg Conley said at a press conference Tuesday.
"He came into the call out of control and as the video shows was out of control during the incident," Conley said, calling Casebolt's actions at the Friday party "indefensible."
Casebolt had been placed on administrative leave after the video surfaced over the weekend. The resignation will end an internal investigation, but a criminal one continues, Conley said.

In the video, Casebolt can be seen pointing a gun at a group of unarmed black teens as they run away. He also wrestles a bikini-clad teenage girl onto the ground, throws another to the grass and runs through the crowd shouting profanities.
"I had 12 officers on the scene, 11 of them did exactly what we would have wanted them to do," Conley said.
Police officers were originally called to the community pool due to reports of teens fighting.
McKinney Mayor Brian Loughmiller urged residents to remain peaceful as protests against police brutality took place Monday, in the wake of the pool party incident. Community members have also complained that officers seemed to target black teens at the party.
"As a father myself I was sorry this incident occurred," Loughmiller said, adding, though, that the actions of one cop do not reflect the community as a whole.
"We have to get past this," he said.
The video sparked controversy after its release. Many vehemently condemned Casebolt's behavior, drawing lines between this incidence of excessive police force to others that have made headlines recently throughout the country. However, some, including several Fox News pundits, came to Casebolt's defense.
