The 88th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade went off relatively without a hitch Thursday, although New York police arrested a handful of Ferguson protesters who rallied at the event.

It was a chilly 36 degrees Fahrenheit, with scattered snow, on Thursday morning; but that didn't stop millions of people from coming out to watch the parade. Since 1924, a procession of floats, bands and more have marked Thanksgiving by moving through Manhattan.

The parade begins on Central Park West at West 77th Street, heads south around the park to Sixth Avenue, before finally arriving in front of the famous Macy's on 34th Street. New balloons in the 2014 parade include a holiday Pikachu, Paddington Bear, Thomas the Tank Engine, Skylanders and a giant red Power Ranger.
