So just how big are these Thanksgiving meals? According to the website Allrecipes.com the average Thanksgiving meal in 2009 averaged 2,225 calories per serving! Wow. Allrecipes.com says this is a 5 percent increase over 2008.

Allrecipes.com data isn't purely scientific, as they based the figures on the most searched recipes by demographic and location. Still, the figure of 2,225 calories per meal sounded about right to the Mashable team.

According to Allrecipes.com, Iowa and Minnesota averaged the fewest calories -- just 1,797 per serving (that's still more than many of us consume in an average day), while South Carolina averaged 2,690 calories per serving.

How do you think your Thanksgiving meal measured up? Did you stuff yourself silly, or did you manage to resist the call of double deserts?
