Despite its limited usability and bad reviews, it looks like the BBC's recently released iPlayer, beta version, is doing well, so far.

Out for a week, over 120,000 people have downloaded the iPlayer. The BBC estimates that it will have gotten 500,000 downloads in its first six months, accounting for 11% of all catch-up and simulcast viewing by the year 2011. Many have complained about the player, from a technology stand point, and some still wonder if a P2P system is the best model for the BBC in order to offer its content in an on-demand manner.
