"As hard as it is to swallow, I know in my heart that what I’ve helped create has outgrown me. Download Squad needs far more competent leadership than I can provide. I’m creative; a content guy, not a team manager ... [t]o my friends at Weblogs, Inc and my bloggers at Download Squad. You’ve all meant so much to me. So long and, thanks for all the fish."
And who has been picked to replace him? Aaron Brazell (who we just livestreamed from WordCamp Dallas here and here), the former Technology Director from B5 Media. I had spoken with him just this weekend, and he was still weighing his options (but wasn't without offers - I can recall at least two people offered him a new gig in my presence) after announcing his intent to leave B5.Shel is gaining a talented and creative producer and Download Squad is gaining a gifted and capable leader. So really, the only loser in this equation (at the moment) is B5. Think you can fill Aaron's shoes? See if you have the right stuff. To all else involved a hearty congratulations.
