The holidays are all about family, so it's only natural that one of TV's most beloved families, The Goldbergs, take us into the season with an episode that's all about the happiest -- and sometimes most torturous -- time of year.

The episode, airing Wednesday night, sees mom Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) create a holiday she calls "Super Hanukkah" and is an homage to A Christmas Story, one of creator Adam F. Goldberg's favorite movies as a child.

"As a kid, I didn’t just watch A Christmas Story during the holidays," he says. "I obsessively watched year round. Yes, my family didn’t celebrate Christmas, but to me this movie wasn't even about the holidays. This movie was about my family. "

Mashable reached out Goldberg and the rest of the cast for their picks for the best holiday movies. Well, they're mostly movies; we allowed one TV episode for special circumstances.
