The Internet Address Book, which launched this week, is a new service from the Netherlands that brings together all your online identities in one place - social networking URLs, instant messaging IDs and web addresses. You create an account, then add your IDs from Fotolog, Facebook, Webshots, Gaia Online, Photobucket and the usual suspects (including MySpace, of course). There's also a live search that finds people across multiple social networks - the results seem pretty good, but it works best when the user is already registered. They're also working on a "wanted" section, where you can list people you're looking for. What's more, you can add people you know to your contacts.

Bringing together multiple social networks is definitely a growing trend, with more people having accounts on lots of different sites. And plenty of users want to track down people through social networks, although their intentions aren't always good. The Internet Address Book is an interesting attempt to tackle the problem, although it has a few tiny bugs - entering URLs from hi5 and Bebo doesn't work, for instance - and I wish they'd chosen a catchier name. They're also missing the video-sharing sites - YouTube would be a good addition to the list, and definitely qualifies as a social network. Even so, it's one of the better attempts I've seen to provide cross-network stalking...I mean searching.
