Apple finally began offering The Interview in its iTunes store on Sunday, days after competing platforms allowed viewers to access the embattled film.

The Interview, which distributor Sony Pictures originally pulled from theatrical release following threats from anonymous hackers, ended up being shown in independent theaters across the U.S., as well as on digital platforms, including YouTube, Google Play, Xbox Video and Sony-launched SeeTheInterview.com.

Apple's absence had been somewhat conspicuous, as its iTunes store is a major force in the on-demand world. The Interview is now available at the same price as it is on other platforms: $5.99 to rent and $14.99 to own.

The FBI said last week that North Korea was responsible for The Interview threats, as well as the massive Sony hack that leaked private email exchanges -- including those between company executives -- and personal information of thousands of people. The group behind the leak demanded that Sony never release the movie.
