Linden and Holder are back for a new season of The Killing but with blood on their hands, it's going to be the stickiest season yet.

Last season saw the duo bring to an end the life of mass murderer and colleague Lt. Skinner (Elias Koteas) after discovering he'd been the one responsible for killing teenage prostitutes. As this fourth season picks up, Linden (Mireille Enos) and Holder (Joel Kinnaman) are picking up the pieces and taking on a new case, the first glimpse of which we get in the promo below.

This fourth and final season marks the series first on Netflix, which resurrected it from death after it was cancelled by AMC. The Killing's Sept. 2013 cancellation was the second time AMC had pulled the plug on the series. After the first axing, the network reversed its decision and gave the show a third installment.

Joining the cast's ranks in Season 4 is Joan Allen, who plays Col. Margaret Rayne, the head of the all-boys military academy. As seen in the trailer below, she's not exactly a warm person.

The Killing premieres on Netflix Aug. 1.
