We got a peek at the first promo for Ridley Scott's upcoming film The Martian over the weekend from Twentieth Century Fox, and now, we get to sink our teeth into the full-blown trailer.

In the promo, Matt Damon, who plays astronaut Mark Watney, gave a video tour of the Ares 3 spacecraft, which is about to take a human crew to the surface of Mars. The new trailer shows us what happens after the crew arrives: Watney is left stranded on the Red Planet, where he has to use the limited resources available to survive until help arrives -- and that might not be anytime soon. (The movie's tagline is "Help is only 140 million miles away".)

The three-minute trailer shows a solid chunk of the movie's plot. Watney struggles to survive aboard a small NASA habitat on Mars and successfully makes contact with Earth. Whether he comes back home safely, though, we don't know.

The movie, based on Andy Weir's self-published bestseller of the same name, is directed by Ridley Scott, with Jessica Chastain and Kate Mara co-starring. The Martian is set to debut in theaters on Nov. 25.
