Richard MacManus has posted an insightful reply to Peter Rip's post on the AJAX office. Peter rightly (or Writely?) points out that the desktop office will eventually be usurped by web apps like Gmail and Kiko, but my feeling is that the Office suite will remain on our desktops for a good while yet. Richard is equally cautious about the timescale:
