Kansas City is known for its jazz music, barbecue, historical war sights and art museums. Although if you've asked anyone over the past month, KC is known for just one thing: baseball.

The Kansas City Royals made it all the way to the World Series for the first time in 29 years. The run was incredibly impressive, but sadly came to an end on Wednesday night with a Game 7 loss to Madison Bumgarner (and the San Francisco Giants. But really though, mostly Madison).

During their playoff run, America had a weird love affair with Kansas City. Actually, America didn't really care about Kansas City, they really just cared about the Royals. It's like America didn't recognize Kansas City as its own entity, but rather a plot of land where Kauffman Stadium happens to be located.

Kansas City is full of amazing parks, extraordinary museums and a rich musical history that shaped modern jazz music. Also, barbecue -- oh, boy, do they have barbecue.

So whether you were in town for the World Series or just making your way across Missouri, make sure to check out landmarks in the City of Fountains.
