A week after Thailand's worst bomb attack, police found a third bomb in a house on one of Bangkok's main roads.

20 people were killed and 100 were injured last Monday after a bomb exploded at the Erawan shrine, while on Tuesday afternoon a second bomb went off at a pier, but did not cause any injuries.

The third bomb, which was deactivated, was a "wide bomb", found on Sukhumvit 81 in a construction worker's house, Reuters reports, quoting Kamthorn Aucharoen, commander of the police's explosive ordnance team.

It's unclear whether the bomb is tied to the first two, or if the construction worker is connected to the attacks.

Police also said Monday that the trail has gone cold in their week-long hunt for the bomber who carried out the fatal attack.

National police chief Somyot Poompanmuang told reporters in Thailand: "You want the truth? We don't know if the suspect is still in Thailand but I have to assume he still is because we've got no information that he left."

He said that after managing to zero in on the suspect in the yellow shirt, the authorities didn't have much else to go on.

The chief blamed the lack of information on the police not having access to more modern technology for investigation, most probably facial recognition technology or related tools.
