Hollywood is trying to destroy the world, or at least make its future seem like a dangerous, waterless, political freakshow run by fearsome regimes and featuring (usually) a bunch of teens just trying to survive it all, man.

So as supercuts go, here's one that probably could've been a longer than 2 minutes and 49 seconds. A lot longer.

"Close to Chaos" barely scratches the surface of the "dystopian" genre, with cuts from Divergent, The Hunger Games, I am Legend, Cloud Atlas, Nine, The Matrix, Elysium, Total Recall, V for Vendetta, Snowpiercer, Terminator, Dredd, Looper, Lucy and at least a few more we couldn't place.

(What, no Maze Runner? No Mad Max? No Blade Runner or Running Man or The Giver or the hundreds of other films that have been set in a post-apocalyptic world?)

You could make a feature film-length supercut of dystopian flicks with all the bad stuff that's supposedly happening in the future -- including the next batch of dystopian YA movies -- so maybe the fun in watching this "supercut" lies in picking the ones they left out.
