There are lots of places to learn the ropes of finance and the world markets. Yahoo Finance is often said to be the most trafficked of all Web-based destinations. Then there’s The Motley Fool. The Street is another. CNBC and Fox Business deliver visual fodder. The portfolio-sharing service Covestor is an interesting pick. And if your wallet is up for it, there’s the annual Berkshire Hathaway gathering, where can try to get some quality face time with W. Buffett to glean some of that insanely lucrative wisdom (and luck?) he seems never to run dry of. (Current trivia being dealt by Coca-Cola’s chief investor: The economy is more or less in tatters. Recession, recession, recession!)

But perhaps you seek another option, someplace you can posit your questions - hard and silly are all welcome - and, you know, get answers. Or maybe vice versa. Maybe you’ve got some tips for traders that you think worth their while. If so, there’s a new site specializing in financial education. It’s called TickerHound. And as its tag line suggests, it’s a platform geared to have “investors help investors.”

Now, before we explain why TickerHound may be worth your while, for the time being, it is safe to say that TickerHound has yet to pull in a great wealth of answers to questions. While the starter material is there, the depth question is still very much on the site’s to-do list. But no matter. Have to start somewhere, right? The important thing is that TickerHound starts off on the right footing.

And it seems to have done so. The breadth of categories is diverse enough to trigger conversation on numerous fronts. From accounting to commodities to ETFs to taxes, users are offered the chance to posit questions of all types, simple and complex. Of course, TickerHound needs to attract a healthy mix of inquisitors and advisors to make the gears turn at the necessary speeds, an objective which certainly has yet to be attained. But the groundwork has been laid, so we may not be expressing too much confidence in saying this new medium has shot at becoming quite a useful and active resource.
